Win Some Kit
Dear Club Secretary
An international football tournament is being played in Sheffield this summer. It gives an opportunity for your players to watch the "stars" of the future, celebrate the footballing heritage of the city and have a chance of your club receiving free footballs and training equipment.
There is no doubt that football, the beautiful game as we know it, was heavily influenced here in Sheffield. You can be part of celebrating that past and looking forward to the future as the City is set to recognise and celebrate its rich footballing heritage this summer with the launch of an annual international football tournament that is promising to bring the global stars of the future to the Steel City.
The Youdan Trophy will celebrate the oldest tournament in the world that pre-dates the FA Cup by four years and was played only once in 1867. The original Challenge Cup was the brainchild of Thomas Youdan and was played between 12 teams from the Sheffield area. The final was played at Bramall Lane and won by Hallam FC in front of 3,000 spectators.
Sheffield based You-Are-The-Ref.com with the support of Sheffield City Council are behind the creation of the tournament that is set to see invited youth teams from as far away as Australia competing. Teams at the under 14 age group from Rangers, Celtic, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton Athletic, Brentford, Nerang Eagles from Australia and FAB Academy are set to take part in the event from 27th-31st July 2015.
The final is being played at Bramall Lane on Friday 31st July 2015 at 3pm.
Please can you let your players know about the tournament, specifically the final? Tickets for the match can be ordered from www.youdantrophy.com and are free. Every player who indicates which club they play for will be entered into a prize draw for the club to receive some of the footballs and training equipment, such as bibs and cones, used in the tournament.
This is a great opportunity for your club to receive some free sports equipment as well as for your players to celebrate and be a part of history in the making.
I do hope you are able to support this tournament by letting players know about the final.
Further information can be found on the website, but if you have any questions or want to block book a number of tickets, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Neil Anderson
