Respect Shown By Hillsborough Pumas U10s
The League has received the following email:
"I just wanted to bring to your attention an exceptional piece of fair play displayed by a member of Hillsborough Pumas U10s during this weekend's game vs Greenhill JFC (Red Division).
During the first match, a goal was scored by Greenhill, however, the ball rebounded out of the goal and was missed by the referee who had signalled for a goal kick to be taken. At this point, Pumas' number 8, Jacob Turner, had realised the ref's mistake, approached him and advised that the ball had indeed crossed the line. Allowing the ref to review his decision and call the goal.
At this point in the game the scores were very close and Jacob had no reason at all to speak out - he showed great maturity and honesty and is an absolute credit to his parents, the League and Hillsborough Pumas U10 team as a whole.
Also, for the record, Jacob himself is an exceptional player at this level and is a real example for other lads to follow - a true man of the match performance.
Credit also to Brian Curry (referee) for realising his mistake and showing enough discretion and common sense to allow the goal to stand.
Best Regards
Will Storey
Greenhill JFC U10 Manager."
