Grants range from £500 to £20,000
The new Postcode Community Trust will launch its Community Grant scheme on 5 January 2015 to charities and other not-for-profit groups in Scotland, Wales and the North of England with a deadline of 30 January 2015.
The Postcode Community Trust was established this year to provide funding to charities and community groups that are working to support the development of their communities, the protection of the environment, engagement in sport, the advancement of health, promotion of human rights and the prevention of poverty.
The Postcode Community Trust is able to offer the Community Grants scheme with funding from players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. The grants scheme is intended for charities and community groups to deliver projects that have a positive impact on their local community.
Although grants range from £500 to £20,000, only registered charities can apply for grants exceeding £2,000.
Projects must meet one of the three following funding themes:
•Advancement of community development.
•Advancement of health.
•Environmental improvement.
Projects can meet more than one of the above themes. However, applicants will have to choose the funding theme that is most suitable for the project on the application form.
There will be two rounds of funding in 2015. Registered charities and other not-for-groups in all areas of Scotland and Wales can apply to each round.
The fund is open to the following regions of England:
•North of England: ◦North East (Tyne & Wear, Teesside, Northumberland, County Durham).
◦North West (Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire).
◦Merseyside.
◦Yorkshire and Humber.
•Midlands: ◦East Midlands – Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire.
◦West Midlands – Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, West Midlands County.
Applications can be submitted only during the designated round:
•5 January 2015 to 30 January 2015 for applications from North of England, Scotland and Wales.
•1 July 2015 to 31 July 2015 for applications from East and West Midlands, Scotland and Wales.
