Coalfields Community Grants Reopened to Applications
The Coalfields Community Grants programme has reopened to applications with grants of between £500 and £10,000 available to support people in coalfield communities in England.
Funding is available for projects that will meet one of the following aims:
•Helping people into work – for example, providing a range of skills and experience to help people to create pathways into employment and accessing job opportunities. This could be job creation, volunteering opportunities, work placements, job clubs which assist with job searches, CV development and training.
•Developing skills and qualifications – for example, providing appropriate training, non-vocational or vocational which will enable people to increase their skills and knowledge, which may result in them accessing volunteering and/or employment opportunities. This includes improving levels of literacy/numeracy, English not as a First Language or coaching in order to provide a service.
•Improving health and wellbeing – for example, providing activities which have a positive effect on people’s mental and physical state. This includes sports session, healthy eating classes and activities which reduce social isolation.
Voluntary and community organisations and groups, in eligible coalfield communities are eligible to apply. A list of eligible wards is provided on the Trust’s website. These are on a regional basis – North East, North West, East Midlands, West Midlands, Yorkshire and Kent.
Applications may be submitted at any time.
