Respect For Ecclesall Rangers U9s
The League today received the following email:
"Hi Andy,
I'm a parent of one of the Valley Knights players who your team played in the tournament at Dinnington today.
I'd just like to congratulate one of your players for a brilliant act of sportsmanship and kindness at the end of our game.
He came across to myself and our coach Gary, pointed out our number 10 and asked who his parents were. When I replied that I was his dad he said " can you please tell him for me well done. He's really given me a game today. I've enjoyed playing against him and he's a really good footballer"
At this I called my son, George, to come shake the young mans hand and as he did the young man told George " well done, you've had me on my toes all game and the toughest I've played against all day. Well done."
After going their separate ways I never got the chance to come over and say thank you to the young man. Unfortunately I didn't get his name either but he was wearing the number 3 shirt.
In today's game, where professionals and corporate executives are dragging the game through the mud, it's wonderful to see something so sporting, heartfelt and genuine and especially from someone so young.
Myself and George would like to pass our thanks on to the young man in question and also that his parents know of his wonderful gesture. I'm sure they will be very proud of him, as your club will be also.
Many thanks and good luck for the future.

Wayne, thank you for letting me know, what great feedback after a tough, close game. George must be good because we played some decent opposition today! Well done George!
I'm so proud of Daniel, I know he made the decision to do that himself because Daniels parents and myself wondered who he was chatting to!
I've copied his parents Gary and Carla in.
You're right about the national game. We try hard at Ecclesall Rangers to play in the right spirit and by the rules and it's great when your opponents do the same, that's how the lads will develop.
I hope you've enjoyed the day and am sure our paths will cross again at U9's.
Enjoy the summer and enjoy 2015/16 Wayne.
Cheers
Andy
