Regional Youth Leagues – Yorkshire Pilot 2015-16 Season
The League has received the following email, which has been passed on directly to club secretaries.
Sent on behalf of Andrew Hailwood – FA National League Development Manager and Nick Levett – FA National Development Manager (Youth)
Dear Club Secretary,
Regional Youth Leagues – Yorkshire Pilot 2015-16 Season
We are writing to make you aware of the FA Regional Youth Leagues pilot which is set to be rolled out in Yorkshire in season 2015-16. The aim of the league will be to offer a competition for the most talented players outside the professional club academy system. It represents an exciting opportunity for clubs with aspirations to compete in regular regional level youth competition.
In this pilot season the format will be a 12 team division at under 13, with a view to growing this to 4 age groups- u13 to u16 over the next 4 seasons.
The FA will be holding a club briefing session to explain the Regional Youth League concept and application process on Wednesday 11th March at Shaw Lane Sports Club, Griffin Suite, 63 Shaw Lane, Barnsley, S70 6HZ - 7pm start. Andrew Hailwood and Nick Levett will be delivering the briefing and taking any questions.
This opportunity will not be appropriate for all clubs. In order to help clubs decide whether to attend the evening here are some of the key criteria for entry to the Regional Youth League;
· The youth team (s) must be part of or have a genuine partnership/connection to a National League System Club (Step 1-6)
· All teams must have 2 x level 2 coaches that also hold the module 2 youth award
· Appropriate playing and changing facilities are required as is the capacity to offer pre and post-match hospitality
· The Club must be able to demonstrate the ability to financially support 4 teams u13-u16 in the league going forward
To reiterate the pilot will be for u13 only in the 2015-16 season. The catchment area for clubs will be York in the North, Hull in the East, Halifax in the West and Sheffield in the South- maximum drive time 90 minutes.
If you are interested in attending please ensure you advise Sarah Hicking at the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA of your club name and the names of the representatives (max 2) at the following email address Sarah.Hicking@sheffieldfa.com
I look forward to seeing you at Shaw Lane.
Best regards Andrew Hailwood and Nick Levett
