Blades pledge to Make It Better
Sheffield United will donate 6,000 match day tickets to The Children’s Hospital Charity as
part of their pledge to raise £25,000 for the charity’s Make it Better campaign.
The Club will donate 2,000 tickets for each of their home fixture against Crewe Alexandra on March 28[/b].
Following the recent announcement of a pioneering partnership between the charity and the
Sheffield and District Junior Sunday League, grassroots football in Sheffield will also benefit from Sheffield United’s ticket donation.
The tickets will be sold by the charity directly to the Junior Sunday League Clubs at a special price of £6, with £2.50 from each sale going towards its ‘Make It Better’ campaign which aims to raise £10m in total by 2016 with a brand new wing including private rooms and parent beds, increased parking, a secure outdoor space and a giant play tower amongst the developments planned.
A total of £2.50 from each ticket will go directly to any Junior Club which sells a ticket and the remaining £1 will go towards the League’s development fund.
Tchad Western, corporate fundraiser at The Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We are delighted with Sheffield United’s donation of match day tickets and we thank them for their continued support and generosity.”
Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough said: “As a community-focused Club, we are proud
to support such a wonderful local charity in this way and we hope that this fundraising
initiative goes some way to reaching our £25,000 fundraising target.
“We hope that all the players of the Sheffield and District Junior Sunday League get behind the ticket scheme to raise funds for both their Club and the hospital.”
Mal Brannigan, managing director of Sheffield United, said: “The Children’s Hospital is
nationally and internationally recognised, and the Sheffield and District Junior Sunday
League is the largest of its kind in the country.
“Together they are likely to have impacted on every family in Sheffield, so we’re honoured to be working with them both.”
Nathan Batchelor, league secretary of the volunteer-run league, said: “The ticket donation is a wonderful idea to raise funds for The Children’s Hospital Charity.
“We are honoured to be involved and we urge our League’s Clubs to get involved too as
every ticket sale not only benefits the Charity, but their own Club and the League.
“We are extremely grateful to Sheffield United for their generosity and to The Children’s
Hospital Charity for involving us in this initiative.”
