People's Health Trust
This scheme invests in local communities to help create fairer places to grow, live, work and age. They believe that where you live should not unfairly reduce the length of your life or the quality of your health.
They give grants up to two years for £5,000 - £25,000 per year in the more deprived areas of the country - there is a map on the website showing where these are.
Projects need to:
• be small and local, for example, an estate or a small village. They don’t fund larger scale projects
• be designed and led by local people
• create stronger connections between people
• enable people to feel they are doing something positive in their area, making a difference and feeling good about it
They won't fund projects relating to particular medical conditions, or changing behaviour, eg stopping smoking.
Organisations need to be not for profit, with an income below £350,000, less than 6 months unrestricted reserves, and be more than 3 months old.
It runs at different times in different areas. In South Yorkshire it opens for applications at 1pm on Wednesday 21st October 2014, closing at 1pm on 3rd December. Application forms can be accessed only within those times.
