Why Dealing with a Mismatch is so important - Team withdrawn
The League has received the following email today:
"Hi Nathan,
It is with deep regret i have to inform you that our u13s have folded this morning,Andy Simon and Marie have done a fantastic job is picking the kids up week in week out but after last weekends 37-0 loss and then finding out its back page news in the Rotherham Advertister (as well as a small article on page 9 of 'the Sun') the players just don't 'love' the game any longer after speaking to Andy this morning when only 7 players turned up,with two more quitting due to the weeks events we was both in agreement that we was left with little option, its a massive loss to our club has these players are just young kids who want to have a kick about and aren't bothered about winning they just loved playing with mates and have fun but i think the added pressure of it being in papers their school mates see and read the embarrassment out weighs the joy of football, which considering most are just 11 and 12years old is very saddening.
I'd like to offer my thanks to the support you have given this team over the past 18months and especially the last week, many thanks to the age registrar for the quick turn around in ID cards and doing them whenever Marie and driven over, we cant fault the league in any way or form!.
My apologizes to the league and the teams in Division D Green for having little choice in withdrawing and we wish them all the best of luck for the remainder of the season yes inc Phoenix Youth - education is vital team and individual challenges would have stopped the disgusting scoreline last weekend and it would have gone along way in restoring faith and respect within the grassroots game.
