Thank You
The League today received this email:
"Hi Nathan,
Not often I'm lost for words but I was truly amazed and humbled today to receive the Eric Service Award for unsung hero from the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League.
I must admit I was very nervous when I initially saw Matt Hardman, I had no idea why he was at our Gala Day, I was worried we had a problem or that something was wrong, so when the reason for his visit became apparent, the fear turned into immense pride!!!
Like all the managers, coaches and volunteers who help run a club, we don't do it for awards, we do it to let children play football in a safe & fun environment. But given the number of hard working volunteers from other clubs I've met in my time as Pumas Secretary it means more than words can say to receive such an award as there are so many others who deserve recognition for what they do at their clubs.
Days like today, when all our teams come together at Gala Day to have a kick about, and receive their trophies from the club for the season just gone, make all the hard work everyone puts in worthwhile. It was a great community event, and to see so many people having fun is fantastic.
Today’s award is something that everyone who helps in anyway to run a Junior club deserves, as it takes a lot of effort and commitment to do so.
Many thanks to Craig Graham & Tony Gee for the nominations, and indeed to everyone involved at Hillsborough Pumas, the parents, managers & coaches, and especially the players, and thanks to Matt for taking time out of his weekend to present the award.
We are fortunate to play in such a great league, and the help and support I’ve had from Nathan, the registrars, Lucy, (referee’s officer), people at other clubs and the team at County FA have all helped me enormously since taking over from John Crofts as Secretary. When I speak to other coaches or secretaries from other areas, it becomes very obvious we have a very good setup within our league compared to others.
So thanks again for the award. It truly made my day!!!
Regards
Douglas Connor
