Respectober - Praise for Chapeltown Athletic Yellows & Referee Jacob Guest
The League has received this email:
"Just an email relating to our recent cup game against Chapeltown Athletic Yellows U16’s, that we had on the 18th of this month.
I don’t know really how to progress with this and / or who to actually put my views over to, but I have come to your first of all, as I think you may tick at least two of the boxes.
All in all, it’s a big, big thank you to Mark, his team and “staff” etc at Chapeltown.
We recently drew Chapeltown in one of the recent cup competitions, which was to be played at home, but due to us not being able to sort a ref out for the game, we approached Mark and asked if it was possible for us to play the game at their ground, which would affectively be the week after playing them at theirs in the league.
After a bit of planning etc, Mark was all too willing to accommodate, on one condition, that we had to bear with them, in light of kick off times, as their ref still plays.
We in turn were all too willing to accommodate them on that score.
We asked Mark, as regards to pitch fees, nets, flags, respect barrier etc….the usual stuff and he said don’t worry, that’s on us …………….total gent.
The guy then asked me if it was ok for them to put up their tuck shop, as they were raising funds for either a Christmas or an end of season party…………….I thought and this isn’t meant in a derogatory way at all, is this bloke for real…………………really , really nice guy and I want to say a big, big thank you to them for what they did.
On another note, I want to say another BIG thank you to Jacob Guesst, the lad that was the referee on both the league and cup game that we had against Chapeltown.
Being totally, totally honest, the display that this lad put in, during those two games, was one of the best I have seen and based on feedback from our lads, one of the best hat they had actually played in.
Jacob was always talking to both teams, having a laugh and a joke with them and also the coaches, encouraging the players from both teams and also commending them when they did something that in his eyes, they did well!!
He always endeavoured to let the game flow and when / where he could, advantage was played, plus from what I was told off of our lads, he even took time, without hesitation and / or prompting, to explain any decisions that, let’s say, weren’t obvious ones to make.
As a result of the above, you could see that in respects to both sets of lads on that pitch, he had their respect.
To say that this lad, where possible, plays himself in the morning and then dashes over to help Chapeltown out in the afternoon’s with his refereeing, this proves his love of the sport and also his commitment to his refereeing and also Chapeltown.
Absolutely brilliant and a real asset to Mark and his team at Chapeltown.
Cheers to you all and a big, big thank you from all at Moss Valley.
