RESPECT..Millmoor Jnrs v Young Owls - U9 - Sun 13th Sep
The League has received the following emails
RESPECT.....
I would like to take the opportunity to commend Steve on the wonderful way in which he not only refereed our game on Sunday but the way in which he referees the game all the time. His enthusiasm is infectious & the way he interacts with all of the players as well as the parents/coaches is an example of how matches at junior level should be refereed. He deserves great credit for this & is a real credit to the league. I also know from experience that he referees multiple games in a single day without any diminishment in his enthusiasm & overall standards. He is an example to all referees but beyond that, it is people like Stephen who should be recognised as representing the true values of grassroots football.
I would also like to commend Craig & his assistants on their sportsmanship in evening up the sides due to my teams illness issues. It should be an act seen as recognising & adhering to the spirit of grassroots football & on behalf of myself, my players & my parents, I would like to thank Craig & his team for the sportsmanship shown & for making it such a great game to be involved in.
Kind regards
Richard March

Hi all
Just wanted to bring the above game to your attention. Two absolutely brilliant games of football – great goals, great tackles, great saves, near misses, we had the lot! The support from the parents was enthusiastic and positive, and it was great to see such emphasis being placed on development and enjoyment (rather than winning). Indeed, a spectator at the U21s match on the next pitch told me he ended up watching, and was so entertained he thought he should have paid an admission charge !
Enormous credit must go to the two managers, Craig and Richard, and their assistants. It was obvious how well coached the kids were, and great to see them encouraged to simply play, to retain/pass the ball and to try things instead of just ‘’hoofing it’’ – and all without worrying about making mistakes.
Special mention must also go to Craig, the Millmoor manager, for unhesitatingly offering to ‘’even up’’ the numbers due to the Young Owls being depleted by illness.
Regards.
