Respect for Wisewood v Handsworth U11
The League has received this email:
"Just had to email as a follow up to yesterday's match Wisewood v Handsworth Boys U11. What a game, what an advertisement for both teams. It was cold, windy, raining and the pitch was from a 1978 Match of the Day FA Cup Tie. The game itself...a win for Handsworth would leave them with a chance of the league title, a win for Wisewood would all but clinch them the league title. You could have expected a nervous game, lots of tension, tackles flying in etc. What you actually got was a game full of skill, flair and passing, an honest battle between two sets of boys desperate to win, parents from both sides were a credit to the teams they supported and the management have a deep respect for each other. Wisewood won a tight game 1-0, with their keeper pulling of a penalty save from the final kick of the match, to surely earn Wisewood a deserved league title. The players were understandably overjoyed, celebrating on the pitch, the Wisewood management were gracious in victory and impeccable in their behaviour to ourselves and our distraught boys. The referee went unnoticed as the best ones usually do. So well done to Wisewood and well done to Handsworth, a winner and a loser there had to be on the day, but the biggest winner for me was junior football."
