Kit on its way Africa

A team of volunteers from the RAF Taking Football to Africa and Beyond Appeal have recently completed a trip to East Africa delivering donated football kits on behalf of a Charitable Appeal based in Shawbury in Shropshire.
The RAF team returned from Kenya having delivered 7500 items across 30 deliveries including in the huge slum areas of Kibera, Kibagare and Mathare in Nairobi.
The charity has also recently donated kits to projects in Palestine/Israel (project to bring youth together), Syria/Turkey refugee camps, Belarus/Ukraine (Children of Chernobyl), Nepal (Ghurkha Welfare Society), Zambia and South Africa. In 2015 alone over 12900 items have already been delivered.
This week Wing Commander Neil Hope MBE, who was responsible for the setting up of the charity some six years ago now, came along to the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA offices to collect kit to be taken to Africa in October.
Here at the County FA we have been extremely pleased that teams, clubs and referees in the S&HCFA region have kindly been able to donate kits to this very worthwhile appeal.
The photograph shows Neil, on the right holding one of the shirts donated by Brunsmeer Athletic AFC and Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA Chairman, Brian Jones, (left) with an “away” shirt from Millmoor Juniors, in front of a van load of other shirts and kit from clubs and referees in the area.
Teams and clubs from S&HCFA make us one of the biggest supporters of this particular charity and if your club, team or players have any unwanted kit, tracksuits, boots, trainers or even polo shirts, then please make arrangements to drop the kit off here at the County Headquarters and we will make sure they go on the next delivery plane out of RAF Shawbury.
