The Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA is working hard to increase the number and diversity of referees across our region.
The target for the County FA is to ensure that at least 90% of all matches have a qualified and registered referee.
With funding from the Football Association, the County FA is able deliver a Referee’s Course that targets participants from diverse communities (people from a Black, Asian or Minority ethnic background), looking to increase the diversity of referees that reflects the communities that play the football.
The course will take place over the summer of 2015, working with the County FA’s partners from Football Unites Racism Divides – Sheffield (FURD).
If you are interested in taking the course you need to be:
• Aged 14 and above
• Have the desire to referee on a regular basis
• Have the ability to read, write and speak English
Candidates must be available to attend all parts of the basic course as detailed below before completing 6 matches and attending a call back event:
Induction session Friday 24th July (6-9pm)
Safeguarding Friday 31st July (6-9pm)
Practical session (1) Monday 3rd Aug (9am-4pm)
Practical session (2) Monday 10th Aug (9am-4pm)
The course will be held at FURD, The U-Mix Centre, 17 Asline Road, Sheffield, S2 4UJ.
The total subsidised cost of the course will be £25 (normal price £100).
The closing date for the course entry is Monday 29th June at 5pm.
There will be a taster session for anyone interested in looking at this opportunity, which will take place on Wednesday 17th June 11am – 12.30pm at FURD.
This will be a practical workshop to give candidates an insight into the practicalities of refereeing.
Suitable clothing and footwear will be required for taking part in practical session on a 3G surface.
