Eric Service Memorial Cup - Tuesday 15th September 2015
The League has received the following email.
Langold Juniors u14s v Worksop Boys Club U14s - Eric Service Memorial Cup
Teams arrived at the game not having the best of starts to the season, but it was Langold that was the more decisive with pressure from the start
putting Worksop Boys on the back foot. Two early goals, one from Marley Staveley and a brilliant header from Braden Smith settled the game in Langolds favour.
Langolds 3rd goal came from some inspired inter play by Braden Smith, Mason Vickers and T.J Wright finished by Marley Staveley with a cracking shot into the net.
Two minutes later saw the visitors free kick cleared by Alex Mckinnell with a decisive header to Bobby Wibberley-List whos one touch forward found Braden Smith who quickly turned and fired in from short range to make it 4-0
Two more goals from Braden Smith and a looping free kick by Alex Mckinnell completed the first half 7-0 to Langold
The second half saw Worksop Boys the sharper side and within five minutes the visitors had gained a free kick from the pressure applied by their front pair.
With a great shot on goal the visitors appeared to have scored only for the referee to wave play on
As Langold continued to substitute players to maximise their time on the pitch the visitors pressed on and always looked threatening on the break. Langolds defence and keeper Beau Sisson were kept on their toes as Worksop Boys tried to battle their way back into the game, but it was Langold who showed the greater desire and stayed in control.
Final score 7-0 to Langold Juniors with a good show of strength, composure and determination.
A game consists of two teams and thanks goes to Worksop Boys Manager Paul Illingworth and his coaches and players who showed good skill and great teamwork.
Two divisions apart separate these two teams, but the respect shown for each other showed throughout from start to finish.
A big thank you to the referee - Liam Marsh who did a great job today.
Credit to all involved.
Regards
Darrel Needham - Langold Juniors.
