Cerebral Palsy Football World Championships Get Involved
The Cerebral Palsy Football World Championships 2015 is to be staged at The FA's National Football Centre, the iconic St. George's Park, home to all 24 English national squads.
The Championships are taking place from Saturday 13th June - Sunday 28 June 2015 and will see the 16 qualifiers from around the world compete for the title to become World Champions. This tournament comes with an added incentive as it is also the main qualification tournament for the 2016 Paralympic Games, taking place in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
Local Organising Committee Chairman Colin Chaytors commented: "Sport happens because of volunteers and the Cerebral Palsy Football World Championships will be no different. We chose TEAM7, as Cerebral Palsy Football is a 7-a-side form of the game that is fast, dynamic and exciting, just like the members of TEAM7 will be!"
Tournament Director Jeff Davis added: "I witnessed first-hand through the work of the London 2012 Games Makers; the great enthusiasm for volunteering that exists in this country. We want to tap into this to ensure that TEAM7 will be the face of the tournament. They will turn what would be a good tournament into a great tournament.
"We are looking to recruit in excess of 100 enthusiastic, passionate people aged 18 or above to our TEAM7 volunteer programme. There will be a role that suits everybody as positions vary from welcoming spectators to St George’s Park as a steward, working behind the scenes in the tournament office, transporting players, staff and VIPs as a driver, overseeing the training pitches, through to accompanying the teams as a liaison officer or perhaps writing match reports with the media team or even helping the ground staff to prepare top quality match pitches."
